Kagiso Rabada almost gave Punjab Kings a dream start in their ongoing game against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur, Chandigarh. However, he was denied a certain wicket due to his captain Shikhar Dhawan’s decision not to review the decision.

The South African pacer could have dismissed the dangerous Travis Head on the first ball of the game after PBKS won the toss and opted to bat first. It was a long labor that was pulled away at the last moment. Travis Head was wide open as he attempted to play the ball on the right side.

After catching the ball, goalkeeper Jitesh Sharma immediately went up. However, Kagiso Rabada was unsure of the advantage and played a key role in Dhawan’s decision not to take the review. After deliberating with his teammates, the PBKS captain decided not to challenge the referee’s decision.

Well, it didn’t take long for Dhawan and his teammates to regret the decision as replays showed a spike in the UltraEdge when the ball was next to the bat. Head was yet to open his account at that time and scored 21 runs before being dismissed by Arshdeep Singh in the fourth over.

SRH post-competitive total:

Talking about the game, SRH recovered from a poor start to post a competitive total of 182/9 in the allotted 20 overs. Nitish Reddy starred with the bat, scoring 64 off 37 balls as SRH recovered from 39 for 3 and then 100 for 5 to post a total of over 180. Abdul Samad also played a crucial cameo of 25 runs off just 12 balls.

Apart from Reddy, no other SRH batsman could reach the 30-run mark. For PBKS, Arshdeep Singh picked up four wickets, while Sam Curran and Harshal Patel claimed two wickets each. At the time of writing, PBKS was 1-1 after the first over. Both PBKS and SRH are looking for their third win of the season. Both teams have won two and lost two games so far in IPL 2024.
