[WATCH] Kagiso Rabada reaches 300 Test wickets with a ripper to Mushfiqur Rahim that knocks down two stumps

Mushfiqur was eventually forced to return to the dugout after scoring just 11 runs.

Proteas speedster Kagiso Rabada reached the milestone of 300 Test wickets today during the ongoing first Test of BAN vs SA.

The South African pacer also reached the mark in style with a great delivery to beat Mushfiqur Rahim.

The incident occurred in Bangladesh’s 14th innings. Rabada bowled a long delivery outside but it backed away. Right-handed Rahim was hoping to defend it on the front foot, but the ball went through the space between his bat and pads and completely rattled two of the three stumps.

Mushfiqur was eventually forced to return to the dugout after scoring just 11 runs.

Kagiso Rabada breaks records

The 29-year-old etched his name in cricket history by becoming the fastest bowler (less deliveries) to reach 300 Test wickets.

Kagiso Rabada achieved the feat in just 11,817 deliveries, breaking the record previously held by Pakistan’s iconic fast bowler Waqar Younis, who needed 12,602 deliveries to achieve the same achievement.

Notably, Rabada also reached this milestone during his 65th Test match, making him the third-fastest South African to claim 300 wickets in Tests, behind Dale Steyn (61 matches) and Allan Donald (63 matches). However, in terms of matches, veteran Indian player Ravichandran Ashwin is the fastest, achieving the feat in 54 games.

Rabada is now among six active bowlers who have joined the 300-wicket club, with Ravindra Jadeja being another recent addition.

Rabada also stands out as the only bowler to have played at least 50 Tests with a strike rate of less than 40, and has the best strike rate among all bowlers who have claimed 300 wickets.
