The incident occurred on the sixth ball of the 49th over of India’s second innings. Rishabh Pant attempted to sweep Shakib Al Hasan but mistimed the shot.
Najmul Hossain Shanto, who was positioned at mid-wicket, had plenty of time to catch the ball but failed to collect it with both hands.
KL Rahul, who was sitting on the Indian dugout chair, decided to get ready to bat. However, he sat back down after Shanto dropped the ball. The video clip quickly gained attention on social media.
