Rahul added a 69-run partnership with Shubman Gill after the early loss of Yashasvi Jaiswal. The batting duo looked good and hoped to play without losing any more wickets in the first session of the first day. However, Mitchell Starc removed Rahul and Virat Kohli before Scott Boland dismissed Gill.

At the time of writing, India were at 82/4 in 23 overs, with wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant (4) and captain Rohit Sharma (1) at the crease.

I’m looking forward to being in front of a home crowd – Nathan McSweeney

Australian opener Nathan McSweeney is eager to prove himself in the second Test against India in Adelaide after a challenging debut in Perth. McSweeney feels confident playing on a familiar turf and is determined to show his capabilities in front of his home crowd, despite scoring 10 and 0 in his first match.

“I got two pretty good balls there in Perth so I’m not trying to think too much about it and I’m looking forward to Adelaide,” McSweeney told Cricket Australia’s media arm.

“I have played well here and it is my field. So I’m really looking forward to being in front of a home crowd and, most importantly, a ground that I have played a lot of cricket on and know very well,” he added.
