Mohammed Siraj, Janith Liyanage

Mohammed Siraj apparently lost his cool and threw the ball aggressively towards Janith Liyanage in the ongoing third ODI between India and Sri Lanka at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

Tempers flared as India finally managed to get back into the game with some quick wickets. Sri Lanka opted to bat first after winning the toss and their openers fully justified the decision. Pathum Nissanka and Avishka Fernando shared an 89-run stand for the first wicket and gave their team a solid start in the crucial game.

Another great partnership followed between Fernando and Kusal Mendis, who frustrated the visitors by adding 82 runs for the second wicket. Riyan Parag finally broke the deadlock by dismissing Fernando for 96 runs and celebrated the wicket with an aggressive celebration.

Twelve runs later, he struck again and also dismissed Sri Lanka captain Charith Asalanka. This time, Virat Kohli also showed his aggressive side by dismissing Asalanka with a fierce dismissal. Soon after, Mohammed Siraj also showed his aggressive side by throwing the ball in anger towards Janith Liyanage.

The incident took place in the 41st over when the Indian player was bowling. On the fifth ball of the over, Janith Liyanage pushed the ball towards Mohammed Siraj who wasted no time in bowling a shy at the striker’s end. Janith Liyanage did well to move out of the way before Mohammed Siraj came close to him and was seen saying something to him.

Watch Mohammed Siraj’s aggressive delivery:

Talking about the game, Sri Lanka finished their innings at 248 for 7. After Asalanka’s departure, the hosts lost three more wickets in no time and found themselves reeling at 199/6 from 183/2. Kusal Mendis and Kamindu Mendis then arrested the slide and helped Sri Lanka post the highest total in the ongoing series.

Sri Lanka already lead the series 1-0 and a win in the ongoing match would end their long wait to win the series against India. They have not won a bilateral ODI series against India since 1997.
