Watch: Mustafizur Rahman takes a boundary shout to remove Suryakumar Yadav for a duck

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) pacer Mustafizur Rahman left Mumbai Indians fans stunned at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The 29th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 is underway and it is keeping everyone excited with the kind of competition that has been going on there.

Chasing 207 runs, Mumbai Indians started the innings quite well. Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan (23) gave the team a vital start but Chennai Super Kings put up a magnificent effort with the ball and got back into the game at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Matheesha Pathirana tilted the game in Chennai Super Kings’ favor when she first removed Ishan Kishan and then sent Suryakumar Yadav packing. However, the credit for the right-handed wicket went to Mustafizur Rahman, who took a jaffa at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.

During the third ball of the eighth over, Matheesha Pathirana bowled a short delivery from outside off. Suryakumar Yadav tried to hook but hit it flat towards the third-man fielder, where fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman was stationed.

Mustafizur Rahman moved a little to the left and reversed the catch with a bit of a backslide. He realized that he was about to lose his balance, threw the ball up and over the ropes. He then balanced himself to complete the catch. Here is the video:

After Suryakumar Yadav got out, Mumbai Indians kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Tilak Varma (32) played a decent hand but also failed to provide decent support to Rohit Sharma. The first batsman made a magnificent century and finished with an unbeaten innings of 105 runs.

However, their efforts went in vain as Mumbai Indians failed to chase down the target. They finished with 186 runs and lost the game by 20 runs. Matheesha Pathirana took 4 wickets and was the pick of the bowlers while Tushar Deshpande and Mustafizur Rahman picked a scalp each.

Pretty happy with the win – Shardul Thakur after the win over MI

The Chennai Super Kings pacer, who bowled sensationally well at the death, spoke about the game, saying they held their nerve and revealed their plans to trouble the opposition in the final overs of the chase. He also credited Rohit Sharma for his stellar innings.

“Very happy with the win. It was never easy against MI at Wankhede. MIvCSK was always known for quality play. Rohit, Rutu and Shivam’s innings also batted well… We stayed calm and won the game. We talked about keeping to the outfielders wherever we are. Try to throw it easy and pitch to the field instead of trying to outsmart the batter. This was a used pitch.

“I think whenever it is a used pitch, the slower ones perform better than in the first game. Apart from Pathirana, we feel that others should pick up pace. It is amazing to see their yorkers. It is difficult to defend at Wankhede. We feel that the “The game was slipping a little bit. When Rohit was doing well, I felt we had to be brave and make him hit towards the bigger side,” he concluded.
