England national cricket team all-rounder Chris Woakes made a radical change in his bowling technique during the third Test match against the Sri Lanka national cricket team. The final match of the series between the teams is being held at The Oval.

On the second day of the ongoing Test, play was on the verge of being stopped due to poor lighting. However, England cricketer Chris Woakes came up with a spectacular plan. The fast bowler turned into an off-spin bowler and completed the remaining 4 balls of his over with off-spin.

Chris Woakes’s off-spin delivery left Joe Root speechless and England captain Ben Stokes, who was in the dressing room, could not believe what had happened. But the headline was taken by former England captain Nasser Hussain, who was commentating during the match.

Nasser Hussain was so shocked to see Chris Woakes bowl off-spin that he fell off his chair in the commentary box. The video of that incident went viral on the internet and fellow commentators laughed at Hussain.

In the final Test between England and Sri Lanka, the hosts have a lead of over 60 runs in the first innings. When asked to bat, the Ollie Pope-led side scored a total of 325 runs. Skipper played a sensational innings of 154 runs while Ben Duckett also put in a vital effort of 84 runs.

In response, Sri Lanka kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Opener Pathum Nissanka at the top played an innings of 64 runs in 51 balls. With the team slumping to 93/5, the captain Dhananjaya de Silva (69) and the in-form Kamindu Mendis (64) frustrated England with an unbroken century partnership on the second day, helping the team post 263 runs.

England would now like to take a big lead in the second innings and wrest control of the game from their opponents. They have won the last two matches and would be keen to complete a rout.

Nasser Hussain, ahead of the matchday, also sent a heartfelt message to Moeen Ali, who retired from international cricket. He backed him as the most influential multi-format cricketer. While highlighting his shot-making ability, he said he enjoyed watching the all-rounder. Speaking to Sky Sports, he explained:

“He is a very important and inspirational cricketer on and off the cricket field. One of England’s most influential multi-format cricketers. Ashes winner, 50-overs World Cup winner and 20-overs World Cup winner.

“He said he’s had some mental breakdowns. He’s made some good shots and some not so good shots. I think everyone who saw him play enjoyed it, but so did everyone who played with him.

“You can imagine his WhatsApp this morning going crazy because he was a very popular member of any team he played for,” he concluded.
