Emotions were running high as Team India defeated South Africa in the final of the 2024 T20 World Cup and won the competition. The victory ended Team India’s long wait for a World Cup trophy.

The Men in Blue had not won a World Cup in any format since 2011, while they last won the T20 World Cup in 2007. The pain of losing the ODI World Cup final in November last year was still fresh when Rohit Sharma and Co. launched their campaign in the ninth edition of the T20 World Cup.

At one stage, it looked like India would suffer another heartbreaking defeat as South Africa had the upper hand and looked destined to win the match. Chasing 177 runs, the Proteas were at 151/4 after 16 overs with a well-positioned Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller in the middle. The Indian bowlers looked forlorn as the match slipped through their hands.

However, the Indian bowlers staged a remarkable comeback in the last four overs, conceding just 18 runs and taking 4 wickets to propel the team to a monumental victory. The Indian bowlers, including veteran professionals like Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya and Rohit Sharma, could not control their emotions after the win and struggled to hold back tears.

The excited players hugged and kissed each other as they celebrated the monumental win in Barbados. Videos of those moments went viral in no time as fans praised the players for their passion and commitment.

And now a new video has surfaced on the internet showing head coach Rahul Dravid’s reaction as Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma hugged each other after the win. Kohli was walking back to the dressing room as Rohit was coming out of it. The Indian superstars shared a warm hug on the stairs. As Rohit and Kohli hugged each other, Dravid walked past them. The legendary cricketer could be seen patting Rohit on the back before walking away.

Meanwhile, the T20 World Cup was Dravid’s last assignment as the head coach of the Indian team. His original contract had ended after last year’s ODI World Cup, but the BCCI managed to convince him to stay on till the T20 World Cup.

Rohit and Kohli also announced their retirement from T20Is after the final win. Apart from them, veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja also called time on his T20I career.
