Batting first at Sahara Park Newlands, MI Cape Town scored 163/9. Rassie van der Dussen He was MI’s top scorer with the bat and played an innings of 60 runs off 46 balls. He smashed a total of four fours and a six during his stay at the crease. van der Dussen added 62 runs off 42 balls along with Ryan Rickleton. Rickleton played some aggressive shots and hit 35 runs off 24 balls.

Colin Ackermann drew first blood against MI Cape Town for the Pretoria Capitals. Ackermann removed Rickleton on the last ball of the seventh over when he was caught by Rilee Russouw. Liam Livingstone and Sam Curran couldn’t do much and were dismissed by Adil Rashid for 6 and 3 runs respectively. MI’s wicket slump continued when Dewald Brevis fell to Wayne Parnell and was caught by Phil Salt for 9 runs.

Rassie van der Dussen held on strongly at one end and continued to score runs to achieve a welcome half-century. After van der Dussen’s fall, all responsibility fell to MI captain Kieron Pollard.
