Samit Dravid, son of former India captain Rahul Dravid, impressed fans with a stunning six during a Maharaja Trophy T20 2024 match between Mysuru Warriors and Bengaluru Blasters.

Samit Dravid is currently playing for Mysuru Warriors in the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) Maharaja T20 Trophy.

Bengaluru Blasters won the toss and elected to bowl first in Match 4 of the Maharaja Trophy on Friday, August 16. The match was shortened to 18 overs per side due to rain.

Mysuru Warriors scored 182/6 in their innings. Manoj Bhandage (58*) and Harshil Dharmani (50) scored half-centuries for Mysuru.

Samit Dravid came in to bat at number 4 when the Warriors were 51/2. Samit dazzled the spectators by hitting a powerful six off a short delivery from Gneshwar Naveen.

Naveen’s delivery was short and wide on the fourth ball of the seventh over, and Samit sent it over the long-on boundary for a spectacular six.

The right-handed batsman was unable to take advantage of his previous shot. The teenager was dismissed on the next ball.

He scored seven runs off seven deliveries before being caught by Bengaluru Blasters wicketkeeper Suraj Ahuja. Gneshwar Naveen had the last laugh after conceding six off the previous delivery.

The official handle of Star Sports Kannada shared the video of Samit’s stunning six on X (formerly known as Twitter), and the video went viral on social media.

“Samit Dravid (Dravid’s son) is the first player we see, he is not as elegant as his father… he has a great swing of the bat. I am very excited to see how he fares in the rest of the KPL,” one user posted.

“Damn! Samit Dravid is out for 7. He’s doing well. He’ll do well. His body language was great. He looked good,” another added.

Bengaluru Blasters cruised to a four-wicket win, chasing the target of 183 runs in 17.1 overs. Bhuvan Raju scored 51 runs off just 24 balls as the Blasters reached the target with five balls to spare. Samit, an 18-year-old all-rounder, was bought by the Mysuru Warriors for Rs 50,000 at the auction.

Samit Dravid failed to make an impact in Mysuru Warriors’ opening match

Mysuru Warriors played Shivamogga Lions in their first match of the Maharaja T20 Trophy on Thursday, August 15. Warriors scored 159/8 in 20 overs after being put in to bat first. Samit scored seven runs off nine balls. Manoj Bhandage scored an unbeaten 42 runs off just 16 deliveries.

Mysuru Warriors successfully defended a revised target of 88 runs to secure a seven-run victory in the match. They are currently third in the six-team table with two points and a net run rate (NRR) of -1.077. They will take on Gulbarga Mystics at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on August 18.
