Indian national cricket team head coach Gautam Gambhir was on a high note ahead of the start of the third T20I against Sri Lanka national cricket team. The match between the teams is underway at the Pallekele International Stadium in Pallekele.

The start of the match between India and Sri Lanka was delayed due to rain. Players from both teams had some quiet moments on the field, and one of them was India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir and captain Suryakumar Yadav.

Just before the toss, Gautam Gambhir was seen having a fun time with Suryakumar Yadav. The team’s head coach was seen smiling with the captain as both of them shared something. The video of the incident went viral on the internet:

Gautam Gambhir and Suryakumar Yadav share a great camaraderie. The duo has been together since the early days at Kolkata Knight Riders. While the current head coach was the captain of the franchise, Suryakumar was the vice-captain of the team.

It was also reported that it was Gautam Gambhir who suggested the name of Suryakumar Yadav for the captaincy of the Indian T20I team. The batsman was preferred over Hardik Pandya, who was the vice-captain of the team in the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Suryakumar Yadav and Gautam Gambhir have started their careers on a good note. The Indian national cricket team has already won the three-match T20I series. They won the first two games and took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.

India were first class with both bat and ball in the first T20I. They scored 213 runs while batting first and were then tremendous with the ball, winning the game by 43 runs. In the second game, they restricted Sri Lanka to 161 runs and then chased down the revised target of 78 in 8 overs in 6.3 overs.

India fail to get off to a good start with the bat in the ongoing third T20I

The Indian national cricket team found it difficult to get going with the bat in the ongoing third T20I. They had a terrible performance with the bat as the Sri Lanka national cricket team bowlers were all over the place and did not allow the batsmen to settle at all.

Yashasvi Jaiswal (10) was the first wicket to fall after India lost wickets early. They were reeling at 48/5. Shubman Gill (39) and Riyan Parag (26) played vital hands for the team and bailed them out of trouble with their 54-run partnership.

In the end, Washington Sundar scored 25 crucial runs while India posted a total of just 137 runs. For Sri Lanka, Maheesh Theekshana was the best bowler as he took three wickets. Wanindu Hasaranga also took two wickets. India would now hope to keep things tight with the ball and complete the shutout. On the other hand, Sri Lanka would be desperate for the win and would want to avoid the shutout.
