Watch: Ravichandran Ashwin fumes with anger; he engages in a lively chat with the referee

India player Ravichandran Ashwin did not look in good spirits during the end of Day 1 of the ongoing Test against England. The second game of the series between the teams will be held at the Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.

Day 1 of the match between India and England saw an even contest between the teams. The Indian batsmen had a decent outing but the visitors kept contributing wickets at regular intervals to ensure they stayed in the game.

While the competition between bat and ball was high, things also got heated towards the end. Indian player Ravichandran Ashwin was seen furious after he finished the day’s play. While Yashasvi Jaiswal was seen acknowledging all the praise, the one who wasn’t there was somewhat surprised.

Ravichandran Ashwin was seen having an animated chat with the umpire. It seemed like something was bothering him. After defending the last ball of the day, he immediately appeared before the umpire and was seen complaining about something.

Here is the video:

It is not clear why Ravichandran Ashwin became enraged at the end of the day. The off-spinner batted all of Rehan Ahmed’s last over and even took an attacking sweep for a boundary. Even before returning to the pavilion with his partner Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Yashasvi Jaiswal was the hero of the day for India on Day 1. He scored a magnificent century and kept India in the game. The batsman continued to fight hard despite wickets falling at the other end and made sure to carry his bat all the way.

Yashasvi Jaiswal remained unbeaten on 179 runs off 257 balls with 17 fours and five sixes to his name. His heroics helped India finish Day 1 with a total of 336/6 runs on the board.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ravichandran Ashwin will play crucial role for India with the bat on Day 2

The way the pitch has developed, batting is expected to become difficult as the game progresses. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ravichandran Ashwin, who are currently batting, would hope to continue batting for as long as possible.

Ravichandran Ashwin seemed to have good touch in the first match, while Jaiswal hoped to double his tally. The batsman himself wants to bat long and take his team to the grand total. Speaking after the match, he stated:

“I wanted to play session by session. When they bowled well, I just wanted to top that spell. At first the wicket was wet and there was spin and bounce, with a bit of seam. However, he wanted to take advantage of the loose balls and play until the end. “I would love to duplicate this and play until the end for the team.” He concluded.

Ravichandran Ashwin will also be crucial for India with the ball. If India has to imagine its chances of winning, it must step up with the ball. The off-spinner is also eyeing 500 Test wickets and would look to achieve that too.
