Ravichandran Ashwin

Veteran Indian pacer Ravichandran Ashwin got a taste of his own medicine during the match between Nellai Royal Kings and Dindigul Dragons in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2024. The two met in the 28th match on Sunday (July 28).

Ravichandran Ashwin has been given a warning for leaving the crease early. The Dindigul Dragons captain, during the 15th over of the innings, attempted to leave the crease early at the non-striker’s end but was unable to as Nellai Royal bowler Mohan Prasath foiled his plans at the NPR College Ground in Dindigul.

Ravichandran Ashwin, before the second ball of the over, left the crease early but bowler Mohan Prasath was quick to notice. He stopped in the middle of his delivery and warned the veteran Indian bowler to stay in his crease, thereby giving him a taste of his own medicine.

For the unversed, Ravichandran Ashwin has been making headlines for his manner of dismissing players. He did the same during IPL 2019 when he was playing for Punjab Kings. The veteran off-spinner got Jos Buttler off RR by taking the balls off the non-striker’s end before bowling the delivery.

Even after that, Ravichandran Ashwin has left no stone unturned in warning batsmen who have tried to leave the crease early. The off-spinner has always been outspoken about such dismissals and despite many debates about the spirit of cricket, he has always stood by his comments.

In the match against Nellai Royal Kings, Ravichandran Ashwin did not have a great performance with the bat. The off-spin bowler scored 15 runs in 13 balls. He took an unfortunate dismissal when he was taken out and with his wicket, Dindigul Dragons lost their ninth wicket.

Dindigul Dragons did not have a great showing with the bat as they were bowled out for just 136 runs. Shivam Singh was the top scorer for the team as he scored 70 runs while the rest of the batsmen failed to surpass the 15-run mark with the bat.

Ravichandran Ashwin takes two quick wickets with the ball against Nellai Royal

Having failed to impress with the bat, Ravichandran Ashwin made sure to put in a magical effort with the ball. The off-spinner played a sensational delivery with spin and tried to keep his team in the contest with the defence down.

Ravichandran Ashwin, in the first three overs he bowled, gave away just 12 runs. If this was not enough, he also took two crucial wickets with the ball. The off-spinner removed Nidhish Rajagopal for a duck and then trapped Rithik Easwaran lbw for just 2 runs.

Ravichandran Ashwin’s sensational bowling in the first three overs reduced the deficit to 76/4. The player is eager to lead his team to victory and secure two important points.
