Watch: Renuka Singh and Richa Ghosh’s Pakistani fielding errors anger Harmanpreet Kaur

India women’s national cricket team players Richa Ghosh and Renuka Singh seemed under clear pressure during the ongoing match against the New Zealand women’s national cricket team. The fourth match of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 will take place at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai.

The Indian women’s national cricket team was asked to bowl first and did not get off to a good start with the ball. New Zealand openers Suzie Bates and Georgia Plimmer batted positively and hit bowlers all over the park.

The pressure was visible on the Indian players and reflected in their performance on the field. The two errors came in the same over when fast bowler Arundhati Reddy was bowling the last over of the powerplay.

On the second ball of the over, Renuka Singh produced a poor fielding effort that cost her team four runs. Arundhati Reddy bowled a full toss on middle and Georgia Plimmer ran down the track and tried to bowl it to the ground.

The New Zealand opener failed to get proper connection as the ball headed towards square leg from the inside half of the bat. The bottom hand even came loose from the handle and it seemed like it would be just one. However, Renuka Singh let it slip through her hands when she came to attack him from deep square leg, and the ball went towards the boundary.

Renuka Singh makes a mistake in the field and Richa Ghosh takes an easy catch to give a lifeline to Suzie Bates.

To make the case even worse for India women, in the fourth ball of the same over, batsman Richa Ghosh played a strange effort. Richa Ghosh dropped an easy catch which left the entire team, including captain Harmanpreet Kaur and the entire coaching staff, disappointed.

Arundhati Reddy bowled a long delivery to which Suzie Bates backed away and looked to bowl it towards the leg side. The ball took the top edge and went up, and looked like it would be easy for goalkeeper Richa Ghosh to catch.

Richa Ghosh sat under it and ruined it. Notably, Richa Ghosh couldn’t hold on while spinning and gave another life to Suzie Bates who then punished the Indian team.

The missed catch cost India more as Suzie Bates scored four off the next ball. Both the openers reached 67 runs for the opening partnership. After that, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led team bounced back and picked wickets in the middle but couldn’t finish well.

New Zealand captain Sophie Devine (67*) scored a magnificent half-century and took her team to a total of 160 runs. Renuka Singh was the pick of the Indian bowlers as she returned with figures of 2/27. Apart from her, Arundhati Reddy and Asha Sobhana picked a wicket each.
