After putting a target of 265 runs on the board, Renuka Singh made sure to take her team to a dream start with the ball. The fast bowler oozed class with the new ball and made sure to draw first blood for her team in the first over.

Renuka Singh produced a sensational delivery to eliminate Laura Wolvaardt. Her right-arm pacer bowled a delivery with a good length outside off. The ball closed after landing. The batter left a big gap in the bat as she pushed it, but the ball went through the gate and crashed into the stumps.

Here is the video:

Laura Wolvaardt, who was left stunned after her dismissal, was unable to set the stage on fire with the bat as she only managed four runs with the bat. Her wickedness allowed Team India to get into the game early as they went on to contribute quite a few wickets at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

After her wicket, Pooja Vastrakar cut and removed Anneke Bosch before Deepti Sharma removed Tanzim Brits. Asha Sobhana also joined the wickets column and India left the South African women reeling at 74/5.

Earlier with the bat, India had a decent outing. They struggled to get going at first as they were left reeling at 99/5. However, after that, it was Smriti Mandhana, who defended the team against him and ensured that she took her team to a competitive total with the bat.

He hit a magical ton and finished with an innings of 117 runs. Deepti Sharma (37) along with Pooja Vastrakar (31) supported her well as India posted a total of 265 runs on the board at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

I controlled my shots and it worked well – Smriti Mandhana after her brave innings

Smriti Mandhana spoke about her innings with the bat and stated that she was delighted that the team got a good total. Talking about the wicket, she highlighted the need to bowl well. The opening batter also spoke about the partnership before adding that she controlled her shots and it paid off. She explained:

“Thank you, I knew I had never scored a century in India but it didn’t come to mind when I was batting.

“(On his association with Deepti) She recovered in the 22nd over, we formed a good partnership, we ended up getting 5-6 runs in a row. Playing ODI cricket after a long time, it was difficult to control my shots in the nets. We have been playing T20 cricket since the last 5-6 months, so it is difficult to resist the temptation. I controlled my shots and it worked well Since the last few days, the focus has been on keeping the ball on the ground,” he concluded.
