India’s star wicketkeeper-batsman has achieved many historic victories in his short international career. One such famous victory was the Gabba in the 2020-21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy between Australia and India.

Pant led India’s comeback on the fifth day of the Test as they chased a daunting total of 328 in the fourth innings against a highly efficient Australian bowling attack. At various times during the day, India found itself in the middle of trouble.

However, Pant stayed at one end and continued to play his natural game and took the attack to the opposition. Even though wickets fell at the other end, the young wicketkeeper showed his class and finished with 89 off 138 balls to take India over the finish line. He hit 9 fours and 1 six during this historic knock.

Rishabh Pant speaks while calling Gabba

Recently, during a Star Sports event, Rishabh Pant was asked about several Australians who voted him as the most Australian Indian player. He responded by saying that he cannot praise himself.

He further stated that there are some performances that will be remembered for a lifetime and his knock at the Gabba was one of those knocks.

“I don’t have an answer for this. Apni tareef thodi naa kar sakte hain (I can’t praise me). You have to praise me. I try to do my best. Sometimes, there are performances that are remembered by the So these are some of those performances and one of them is Gabba,” Pant said at the event.

The pitch was not easy to bat on but Rishabh Pant continued to play an aggressive brand of cricket. He took on the Australian bowlers with a fearless attitude. His play against Nathan Lyon was particularly praiseworthy on the day when he was expected to be most threatening.

Also, Rishabh Pant revealed Rohit Sharma’s golden words after the match. According to Pant, Rohit told him about the magnitude of the knock and how it will be remembered for years.

“When it happened, I didn’t know it either. Rohit (Sharma) bhai was there and he said, ‘Tujhe nahi pata tune kya kara hai (You don’t know what you have done).’ Rishabh Pant.

“Then he told me that you will know in a few years. So wherever I go now and find out, I will know what really happened,” he added.

India achieved historic series victory

India won an exceptional match and series and Pant appropriately scored winning runs. Pant was named Player of the Match for his brilliant performance with the bat. It was a series in which the strength of India’s bench was tested to its limits.

But the youngsters performed extremely well and showed how talented the next batch of cricketers are. Apart from Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane, all other players in the team were either injured or did not play all the matches due to other reasons.

Rishabh Pant is also likely to be an important player for India in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar series. The wicketkeeper-batsman is in sensational form and will pose a threat to Australia on his own terms.
