RISHABH PANTSon Sunday (March 31), led the Delhi Capitals from the front by scoring a brilliant half-century against Chennai Super Kings in Vishakhapatnam.
Rishabh Pant missed it all IPL last year while recovering from injuries he suffered in the horrific car accident. He had to be sidelined for over a year before returning to competitive cricket in IPL 2024. In his comeback game, which was against Punjab Kings, he scored 18 runs before scoring 28 against Rajasthan Royals.
In both games he got the start but could not convert them. However, he made sure to make the most of his start in his third match against CSK. DC needed their captain to make a good knock after losing several wickets and he rose to the occasion.
Rishabh Pant’s One Hand Six:
David Warner and Prithvi Shaw gave DC a solid start by adding 93 runs for the first wicket. However, they left in quick succession. Mustafizur Rahman dismissed Warner for 52 before Ravindra Jadeja dismissed Shaw for 43 to reduce DC to 103 for 2.
The likes of Mitchell Marsh (18) and Tristan Stubbs (0) failed to score much as DC found themselves reeling at 134 for 4. At the end of the 17th over, they were at 148 for 4 and were in danger of wasting the good start to their innings.
However, Rishabh Pant, who was hitting 23 off 23 balls at the end of the 17th over, took charge and changed gears in the next two overs to propel his team to a good score. In the next two overs, he hit two sixes and three fours to complete a well-deserved fifty. One of those sixes was his trademark one-handed six.
It came in the 18th minute against Mustafizur Rahman. It was a fuller delivery and Pant hit it one-handed over the deep backward square leg boundary for a big six.
