Rishabh Pant blunder behind the stumps

India wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant made a blunder behind the stumps in the ongoing match against the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team. The third and final ODI of the series between the teams is underway at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

Rishabh Pant did not have the kind of outing he would have wanted behind the stumps. He missed the simple stumping, and that resulted in Sri Lanka National Cricket Team batsman Maheesh Theekshana coming out to bat after returning to the hut.

During the last ball of the 49th over, Mahesh Theekshana ran down the wicket and attempted a wild swing across the line. Seeing the batsman coming out of the crease early, Kuldeep Yadav shortened his length. The batsman missed the ball by miles and it was an easy stump for Rishabh Pant behind the stumps.

Rishabh Pant made a mess of things by taking his time to remove the wicket. Maheesh Theekshana, who was watching the wicket being removed, returned to the dugout but replays showed that the time taken by Pant allowed Theekshana to return to the crease and save his wicket.

It was a pretty poor effort from Rishabh Pant as if he had taken the balls away quickly, Theekshana would have been out. The Sri Lankan player had to come out of the dressing room again to bat again. Notably, the third umpire also made a funny mistake as he first showed an ‘out’ decision on the big screen before changing it to ‘not out’. Also, India captain Rohit Sharma had a dejected look on his face and gave a furious death glare to the wicket-keeper.
