Rohit Sharma, on Saturday (June 22), once again failed to get going with the bat as he was out of the powerplay in the ongoing Super 8 game between India and Bangladesh.

The Indian captain had started his campaign in the competition on a good note by scoring a decisive fifty goals against Ireland. However, the right-handed batsman has not lived up to expectations since the match against Ireland.

In the second match against Pakistan, they were out for just 13 before losing by 3 against the United States. He also started the Super 8 campaign on a bad note as he was out for just 8 runs against Afghanistan. On Saturday, the right-handed batsman took the lead but couldn’t convert it into a big score.

He raced to 23 runs off just 10 balls before being dismissed by Shakib Al Hasan in the fourth over. While Rohit Sharma could not make a big impact on the game with the bat, he managed to delight the fans by hitting a huge six.

In the fourth over, he hit Shakib Al Hasan for a 97-metre six. On the first ball of the over, he danced down the track and hit the ball for the big six.

Talking about the game, India were at 64 for 1 in the eighth over at the time of writing this report. Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant batted in the middle order for the Men in Blue. Kohli took the lead and crossed the 30-run mark for the first time in the ongoing competition. The former Indian captain would look to make the most of today’s outing.

Meanwhile, Team India would look to win the ongoing game to increase their chances of reaching the semi-final. A win against Bangladesh will all but secure a place in the last four for the Rohit Sharma-led team. India have already defeated Afghanistan in the Super 8 and will be looking forward to their chances of beating Bangladesh as well.
