Rohit Sharma surrenders to Taskin Ahmed for cheap

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma and Kohli failed to impress with the bat in the ongoing first Test between India and Bangladesh in Chennai. While both veteran Indian batsmen were bowled out for six runs in the first innings, Rohit Sharma was dismissed for just five runs and Kohli fell for 17 in the second innings against the Tigers in Chennai.

Bangladeshi bowler Taskin Ahmed bowled a short delivery at 137.9 km/h which straightened enough to force Rohit Sharma into a pull. Rohit Sharma, straightened by the movement, tried to push it, resulting in a thick outside edge.

The ball flew straight to Zakir Hasan, positioned at wide third slip, who made no mistake in completing the catch. Rohit Sharma got out on 5 off 7 balls, with a boundary to his name. It was a fantastic breakthrough for both Taskin and Bangladesh against India.

Virat Kohli took the lead thanks to a full ball from Mehidy Hasan Miraz

On the other hand, after hitting a boundary, Kohli was caught in front by a full toss from Mehidy Hasan Miraz, and umpire Richard Kettleborough raised his finger to end the former Indian captain’s promising start to the second innings against Bangladesh in Chennai.

Kohli was unsure of his LBW out, so he briefly consulted Shubman Gill, but ultimately decided not to review the decision. The ball, bowled at 84.9 km/h by Miraz, beat Kohli’s attempt to hit it towards the ball side, hitting him low on the front pad near the off stump.

It looked like a straightforward LBW, but UltraEdge later revealed that Kohli had achieved an inside edge that even he hadn’t managed. He returned to the pavilion and scored just 17 off 37 balls, including two boundaries.

India are currently leading by 308 runs in the first Test against Bangladesh, with Gill (33*) and Rishabh Pant (12*) resuming play on Day 3 after the hosts restricted the tourists to 149 in their first innings in Chennai on Friday.
