Watch: Sanju Samson drops a regulation catch as he continues his horror show in Sri Lanka T20I

India wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson is having a tough time in the ongoing second T20I against the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team. The final game of the three-match series between the teams is underway at the Pallekele International Stadium in Pallekele.

Things are looking up for Sanju Samson in the ongoing T20I against the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team. Nothing is going well for the wicket-keeper batsman as, after failing to get going with the bat, he is having a miserable time on the field with his gloves behind the stumps.

Sanju Samson, who is India’s wicket-keeper in the ongoing game, dropped a dolly to give Sri Lankan opener Kusal Mendis some breathing room. During the fifth ball of the fifth over, Mohammed Siraj bowled a length delivery on the off stump. Kusal Mendis was rooted to his crease when the ball deviated just a tad and caught a healthy edge.

It looked like Sanju Samson, behind the stumps, would catch the ball with ease, but the wicketkeeper-batsman initially made a mistake. He had to correct himself and dive to his right. It didn’t come in cleanly and he dropped it, and the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team batsman was given a lifeline.

Here is the video:

After that, captain Suryakumar Yadav immediately went to console Sanju Samson but that didn’t work either as the wicketkeeper-batsman dropped another catch. In the next over, he dropped another catch of Kusal Mendis to give him another respite.

On the second ball of the ninth over, Ravi Bishnoi bowled a flatter googly which was pushed down the leg. Kusal Mendis ducked as he tried to pull. The ball touched his glove and landed just below Sanju Samson’s gloves as it went fast.

Sanju Samson also did not have a great performance with the bat. The wicket-keeper batsman took a four-ball duck while batting at number 3. The Rajasthan Royals captain did not look in great form even in the last game as he took a golden duck and faced a lot of criticism for not performing well on the international stage.

India register just 137 runs with the bat

It was a terrible performance for the Indian national cricket team with the bat in the ongoing match against the Sri Lanka national cricket team. When they were asked to bat first, they kept losing wickets right from the start. Sri Lankan bowlers were all over the place and the visitors were reeling at 48/5.

Shubman Gill (39) and Riyan Parag (26) made sure to get the team out of trouble. The duo added a 54-run partnership that brought the team back into the game. They batted well and both lost their wickets at the crucial moment of the game.

In the end, Washington Sundar scored 25 crucial runs while India posted a total of just 137 runs. For Sri Lanka, Maheesh Theekshana was the star player as he took three wickets. Wanindu Hasaranga also took two scalps.
