India national cricket team batsman Sanju Samson looked in good touch with the bat in the ongoing first T20I against the Bangladesh national cricket team. The first match of the three-match series between the teams will take place at the New Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium in Gwalior.
Sanju Samson, who opened the innings, started the innings on a high note as he played some crisp shots and took his tea on the right foot. The wicketkeeper-batsman put on a display of great timing in his innings and entertained with stroke play.
Only once did he not time the ball and that caused his fall. On the fifth ball of the eighth over, Mehidy Hasan bowled a drifter, to which Sanju Samson backed away and hit him. The length was not adequate to make that shot since it was not that complete.
Sanju Samson ended up dragging it from inside half towards mid-wicket, where Rishad Hossain caught it easily. What caught the attention of many was the keeper-batsman’s reaction after his exit. He was frustrated and the video went viral.

After three long years, it was emotional for me – Varun Chakaravarthy
Varun Chakaravarthy, who played his first match for India since T20 World 2021, said it was emotional for him to play after three years. He said it was a rebirth for him and mentioned that he focuses on the process. He also added that he works a lot with Ravichandran Ashwin in TNPL and playing in the tournament helped him. He added:
After three long years, it was emotional for me. It feels good to be back at the Blues. It feels like a rebirth, I just want to continue with the process, that’s what I have been following in the IPL too, I don’t want to go beyond what is there and I just want to stay in the present, that’s why I don’t want to think too much or express too much.
After IPL, I played a few tournaments and one of them was TNPL; It is a very good tournament and also of a high level. That’s a place where I also work a lot with Ash (Ashwin) bhai; We also won the championship, which gave me confidence here. It was good preparation for me for this series.
