Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan has once again hit the headlines for his off-field antics. The SUV found itself in the middle of another controversy and that incident went viral on the Internet.

Shakib Al Hasan, who participated in the elections in Bangladesh, was reportedly heading to the voting booth to witness the process. As he headed to the booth, a large crowd followed him and gathered around him, supporting him.

There was a large crowd around Shakib Al Hasan and one of the fans surrounding him tried to grab his hand. This, however, did not sit well with the Bangladesh captain as he did not go easy on the fan. The SUV turned around and slapped him.

The video of the incident went viral on the Internet. In the clip, Shakib Al Hasan can be seen hitting the fan hard while he tries to touch and grab him. Here is the video:

Shakib Al Hasan contested the Awami League election from Magura-1. The all-rounder achieved a resounding victory with 185,388 votes in his name. He has focused a lot on the elections after the 2023 World Cup and his hard work finally paid off.

Shakib Al Hasan has often made headlines for his behaviour. He has often been seen to lose his temper and this was also quite evident during many games. He was also suspended by the Bangladesh Cricket Board for shouting at umpires during the Dhaka Premier League.

Decision regarding Shakib Al Hasan’s continuity as captain will be taken soon – Jalal Yunus

Shakib Al Hasan was last seen in action during the ICC World Cup 2023. He was injured during the end of the tournament and was later ruled out. Since then he has not played cricket because he has been nursing the injury and also concentrating on the elections.

In the absence of Shakib Al Hasan, Najmul Hossain Shanto has captained the team and the left-hander has done a great job. This has now put the Bangladesh team in the middle of a double-edged sword as to who will lead the team once the all-rounder returns.

The BCB director of operations, Jalal Yunus, spoke about the same and revealed that decisions related to the team captaincy will be made by the board. He also stated that the governing body would sit with the all-rounder and discuss with him before taking any decision. He had declared;

“The final decision on whether Shakib will continue or Shanto will take over will be taken by the board. But obviously we will discuss it with him. [Shakib] and will try to know your position on the matter. And only after that can we know who will be the captain of the team in the long term.”

Shakib Al Hasan did not have a great outing with bat and ball in the World Cup. The all-rounder scored only 186 runs in 7 innings and managed only a half-century. He was also not at his best with the ball, as he bagged only 7 wickets.
