Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan and Karachi Kings captain Shan Masood They were involved in a heated argument in the 24th match of Pakistan Super League 2024. The dispute centered on Shadab Khan’s intervention in a Decision Review System call.
Shadab Khan chose to play first after winning the toss in Rawalpindi on Thursday, March 7. Islamabad United restricted Karachi Kings to a total of 150 runs during the first innings. The Islamabad-based franchise chased the goal with eight balls remaining.

The dispute between the captains revolved around a review caught during Mohammad Nawaz’s bowling to Agha Salman. Shadab Khan expressed concern about the time limit of the Decision Review System, prompting Shan Masood to assert control over the review process.
Despite Shadab’s reservations, Shan proceeded with the search, which ultimately revealed no contact with the bat, allowing Agha Salman to survive the search.

Shan Masood struggled to score during Karachi’s innings
The Kings got off to a disappointing start as they were reduced to 49/4 in the ninth over. Captain Shan Masood contributed just 10 runs off 12 deliveries, including a solitary boundary. However, Kieron Pollard and James Vince added 58 runs for the fifth wicket.
However, their expulsion against the flow of the game prevented them from finishing strongly. Pollard emerged as the top scorer with 39 runs off 28 balls. Vince scored 29 runs off 27 balls, including five boundaries. The team finished with 150 runs for the loss of seven wickets.
Tymal Mills claimed three wickets, supported by Faheem Ashraf with two. Imad Wasim and Hunain Shah got a wicket each. However, captain Shadab Khan remained wicketless, conceding 22 runs in his two overs.
Islamabad United secure victory with five wickets remaining
In response, Islamabad United faced constant setbacks, losing wickets at regular intervals throughout their innings. Openers Colin Munro (9 off 11) and Alex Hales (18 off 13) were dismissed in the first five overs. Mir Hamza provided two first wickets for the Kings.
Agha Salman (33 runs off 30 balls) and Shadab Khan (34 runs off 26 balls) had promising starts but failed to build on them. However, Haider Ali and Faheem Ashraf guided the Kings to reach their goal in the penultimate over with five wickets in hand.
