Indian national cricket team batsman Shubman Gill scored a half-century in the second innings of the ongoing first Test match against Bangladesh. Shubman Gill reached the half-century mark with two sixes off Bangladesh spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz on the third day of the match on Saturday, September 21.

The first Test match between India and Bangladesh is underway at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Shubman had a disappointing performance with the bat in the first innings. The right-handed batsman was dismissed for a duck after hitting the leg side off paceman Hasan Mahmud’s delivery.

However, Shubman Gill scored runs without any problems in the second innings. He held on to the crease despite key wickets from Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Gill completed his half-century during the 30th over of India’s second innings. He smashed two sixes effortlessly to reach the milestone.

The Rohit Sharma-led side started the third day of play at 81/3, with Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant at the crease. The duo provided a positive start to the team without losing any wicket in the first hour. Team India crossed a 368-run lead during the second innings of the match in Chennai.

At the time of writing, India are 155-3 after 45 overs, with Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant at the crease. The home team is currently leading by 382 runs. They are hoping to add around 70-80 runs before the declaration on Day 3. The right-handed batsman could reach the triple-digit mark in the ongoing innings.

India put in a great performance on the second day of the Chepauk Test against Bangladesh. After resuming their first innings at 339-6, they finished with a total of 376. Jasprit Bumrah was impressive with the ball, taking 4 wickets for 50 runs in 11 overs, as Bangladesh were bowled out for just 149 in their innings.

Rohit Sharma had another disappointing performance in the match. Rohit scored just five runs in the second innings after being dismissed for six in the first innings. Virat Kohli also struggled in the second innings. The right-handed batsman scored just 17 runs off 37 balls on Friday, September 20.

Virat looked to be in reasonable touch but was eventually caught out before being given the wicket by Mehidy Hasan Miraz. He could have been saved by a review as UltraEdge indicated he had made contact with the ball. The Men in Blue lost Yashasvi Jaiswal for 10 runs before the close of play on the second day.
