Sophie Molineux is making sure to put in a great performance for her team in the big game. The Women Premier League (WPL) 2024 final will take place between Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Sophie Molineux tilted the game in favor of Royal Challengers Bangalore within an over in the final of WPL 2024. Delhi Capitals won the toss and opted to bat first. They were offside and looked like they would achieve a great result in the crowning match of the tournament.

DC added 64 runs for the opening partnership but Sophie Molineux changed the course of the game in the eighth over. After conceding 10 runs in the first over she bowled, she made sure to bowl a magnificent over that put her team in the driver’s seat.

Sophie Molineux first removed Shafali Verma (44) to draw first blood for her team. She didn’t stop there, one ball later, she hit again for her team. What caught the attention of many was the ball he took from Delhi Capitals batsman Jemimah Rodrigues.

Sophie Molineux bowled a confusing delivery on middle and leg stump. She provided good drift as the ball drifted slightly away. Jemimah Rodrigues tried to sweep but missed. The length was not full enough for the shot. The bowler tricked the batter into rattling her stumps.

Jemimah Rodrigues could not trouble the scorers and pocketed a two-ball duck. With her wicket, Delhi Capitals women were reduced to 64/2. With her wicket, the hosts came under immense pressure and RCB heaved a sigh of relief.

Sophie Molineux further damages DC by eliminating Alice Capsey

Sophie Molineux, however, did not stop there and made sure to cause more damage to her team. In the next ball, after removing Jemimah Rodrigues, she castled the stumps of Alice Capsey to further shake the Delhi Capitals women.

When Sophie Molineux saw Alice Capsey sweeping the lead turn, she slowed her pace and got the ball away from Capsey’s shot. The ball hit leg stump to send the batsman packing.

Here is the video:

Sophie Molineux bowled a triple wicket maiden and spun the net around the Delhi Capitals batsmen. From 64/0 to 64/3, they were reduced in the span of just 6 balls. If this was enough, Shreyanka Patil also joined her as she eliminated DC captain Meg Lanning.

Shreyanka Patil launched a counter attack to which Meg Lanning returned. She was hit in front and in the middle. The ball hit her on the pads. The batsman opted for DRS but showed three reds. The first batsman scored 23 runs off 23 balls as DC reeled at 74/4.

Delhi Capitals have come under tremendous pressure in the ongoing game. After Meg Lanning’s wicket, they lost three more wickets as RCB took control.
