Australia national cricket team batsman Steve Smith stepped up for his side in the third ODI against the England national cricket team. The ongoing match of the five-match series between the teams will be held at the Riverside Ground in Chester-le-Street on Tuesday (September 24).
Steve Smith scored his first half-century in the ongoing ODI series against the England National Cricket Team. The right-handed bowler, who scored 32 runs in the first game and 4 runs in the second, made sure to make up for the mistakes of the first two games.
Smith, who came out to bat at number 4, came out to bat when Australia lost two wickets quickly. He realised the need to keep a winger as he played a great role for his team and made sure to bring the side innings track and helped them score runs at a crucial time.
Smith was solid at the crease as he barely made a mistake and scored a superb half-century. The way he was playing, it looked like he was going to make a great record, but his stay at the crease was cut short by the brilliance of Brydon Carse who played a stunning shot from the boundary ropes.
Steve Smith attempted to flick a drag shot towards Jofra Archer’s short delivery. The batsman timed the shot perfectly, but Brydon Carse put in an astonishing effort. He ran from deep back square leg to his left and, at knee slip, took it with two hands. The ball was flying, but he made it look easy.

Steve Smith finished with an innings of 60 runs off 82 balls. He batted at a strike rate of around 75 and also hit 5 fours in his innings. With his wicket, Australia National Cricket lost its fifth wicket and was left reeling at 172/5.
However, after that, Australia’s national cricket team managed to get some runs in the end, thanks to the vital contributions of Alex Carey. The wicketkeeper-batsman played a stellar innings of an unbeaten 77 runs off 65 balls with the help of 7 fours and 1 six in his innings.
Glenn Maxwell also supported him well with his quickfire 30 runs, which included 5 boundaries. But the real blitz came from Aaron Hardie’s bat. The all-rounder played a brutal cameo, scoring 44 runs off just 26 balls, at a strike rate of around 170 with the help of 3 fours and 2 sixes in his innings.
Thanks to the vital efforts of the junior teams, Australia’s national cricket team scored a total of 304 runs. After losing 5 wickets quickly, it didn’t look like they could go past 300 runs, but it was a magnificent effort from the world champions to surpass that figure.
Jofra Archer took two wickets for England while Brydon Carse, Jacob Bethell, Will Jacks and Liam Livingstone each got one wicket.
