Suryakumar Yadav

The last few weeks have been amazing for Indian batsman Suryakumar Yadav in his career. The right-hander has done nothing wrong and despite all his hard work over the years, it is paying huge dividends as he has received a lot of praise.

Suryakumar Yadav has been the hero of the Indian team lately. His catch in the final of the 2024 T20 World Cup to dismiss David Miller was potentially the key to the game-changer. That catch tilted the game in India’s favour and after that, they won the title by beating the opposition by runs.

Suryakumar Yadav has been named captain of the Indian T20I team. He beat Hardik Pandya by getting the backing of newly appointed coach Gautam Gambhir and the Board of Control for Cricket in India for the post. The team was in need of a new captain after Rohit Sharma ended his T20I career.

Hardik Pandya, who was the vice-captain of the team in the 2024 T20 World Cup, was expected to lead the team as he was playing that role in the absence of Rohit Sharma. But Gautam Gambhir and BCCI did not favour him, considering his injury history and workload management.

This made BCCI and Gautam Gambhir choose Suryakumar Yadav as the new captain of the Indian team. The right-handed bowler has been the best T20 batsman for the Indian National Cricket Team. He has been scoring loads of runs for the team and has won the ICC T20I Cricketer of the Year award twice in the last two years.

Not only that, but Suryakumar Yadav also captained the Indian team in the absence of Hardik Pandya. He led the team in the T20I series against Australia after the 2023 ICC World Cup and then in the South Africa series, winning 5 out of the 7 matches he captained.

Suryakumar Yadav posted a stunning Instagram post after being named T20I captain. He posted a video of himself running on the field, accompanied by the soundtrack of ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, the biopic on legendary Indian athlete Milkha Singh with the title ‘Giving it your all, every day’.
