Watch: Tabraiz Shamsi celebrates “Shoe-Phone” celebration after firing Suryakumar Yadav

Tabraiz Shamsi, a 33-year-old left-arm wrist spinner of the South Africa national cricket team, brought out his trademark “shoe-phone” celebration after dismissing the captain of the Indian national cricket team, Suryakumar Yadav, in the second T20I.

The second T20I of the three-match series between the Suryakumar Yadav-led Indian national cricket team and the Aiden Markram-led South Africa national cricket team is currently underway at St George’s Park in Gqeberha on Tuesday, December 12.

India were invited to bat first in the match and got off to a terrible start as both openers Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal came out for ducks.

Despite early setbacks, Suryakumar Yadav played cricket with confidence and scored runs at a rapid pace. He added 49 runs off 24 balls with Tilak Varma to push the Proteas on the back foot.

Tilak Varma was dismissed for 29, but Suryakumar Yadav went ahead and smashed a fantastic half-century. He also featured in a brilliant partnership of 70 runs off 48 balls with Rinku Singh.

Tabraiz Shamsi dismissed the No. 1-ranked T20I batsman in the fifth ball of the 14th over. The left-arm wrist spinner bowled a goal and Suryakumar came out and bowled a lofted shot. He didn’t hit the ball very well and it went straight into Marco Jansen’s hands in long time.

After picking up the huge wicket, Tabraiz Shamsi was delighted and brought out his trademark shoe-phone celebration in which he takes off his shoe and acts to use it as a mobile phone to call someone.

After the wicket of Indian National Cricket Team Captain, the Men in Blue are left reeling at 125/4. Suryakumar scored 56 runs off 36 balls, with 5 fours and 3 sixes, before being dismissed.

Earlier, speaking during the toss, Suryakumar said he was happy to be in South Africa. He also revealed that they were confused about whether to bat or bowl first. He elaborated:

“I’m very happy to be here and happy to know that there is some cricket around here. We were confused about what to do, but now we are very happy to bat first. It is an opportunity for everyone who plays this game. There are still 5 or 6 months until the World Cup. “Just have fun is the message to the team.”
