Virat Kohli is usually a good defender, but he dropped a sitter at second slip to give a big lifeline to Marnus Labuschagne during the first Test between Australia and India at the Optus Stadium in Perth.
During the third over of Australia’s first innings, an animated Jasprit Bumrah came into the bowl. On the fifth ball of the over, Bumrah induced an outside edge from Labuschagne as the ball flicked to Kohli’s right at second slip.
Virat Kohli caught the ball initially but soon dropped it after his knees touched the grass. Kohli was apparently trying to pull the ball towards his body so that it did not touch the ground, but could not hold it.
