Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar

While Rajat Patidar didn’t really manage to set IPL 2024 on fire with his batting, he managed to impress Virat Kohli by scoring a huge six in the ongoing game between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

It was the tenth over of RCB’s innings as Rajat Patidar took on MI captain Hardik Pandya. The Indian all-rounder had started the round on a good note. He began by bowling two dot deliveries to Faf du Plessis before the RCB captain took a single to give the strike to Rajat Patidar.

On the fourth ball of the over, the RCB batsman took a double before hitting Hardik Pandya’s fourth delivery for a huge six. Pandya bowled one at good length just outside off and Rajat Patidar hit it hard. He made a sweet connection and sent the ball over the second tier into the stands at long range. And as soon as he hit the six, the cameras showed Virat Kohli, who looked very impressed with the six.

Watch Virat Kohli’s reaction to Rajat Patidar’s six:

Talking about the game, RCB got off to a bad start with the bat after MI won the toss and asked them to bat first. The Bengaluru-based team lost the wickets of Virat Kohli and debutant Will Jacks in the powerplay. Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Kohli for just three before Akash Madhwal dismissed Jacks for eight to leave RCB at 23 for 2.

Du Plessis and Rajat Patidar steadied the ship by sharing an 82-run stand for the third wicket. Gerald Coetzee broke the stand by dismissing Patidar for 50 in the 12th over. Three runs later, RCB suffered another blow when Shreyas Gopal dismissed Glenn Maxwell for a four-ball duck. At the time of writing this report, RCB were 113/4 in the 14th over.
