Indian national cricket team’s batting superstar Virat Kohli took charge of the team during the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.
Virat Kohli took over as captain, albeit briefly, during the Adelaide Test against the Australian national cricket team on Friday, December 6.

Kohli is the most successful Indian captain in the history of Test cricket. Under his leadership, he transformed the Test team into an unbeatable force at home and a dominant team in overseas matches.
He brought fitness culture to the team and built a great fast bowling unit with the coaches that helped Team India register some historic wins in the SENA Tests.
Virat Kohli captained the Test team from 2014 to 2022 in 68 matches and led them to 48 wins. He lost only 17 games as captain of the red ball and had a winning percentage of 58.82.
From time to time, he has been seen helping captain Rohit Sharma on the field. Something similar happened on day 1 of the Adelaide Test.
He gave some fielding suggestions to captain Rohit Sharma to break the partnership between Nathan McSweeney and Marnus Labuschagne.
In the 17th over, Virat Kohli walked towards Rohit and had a little chat with him. It seemed like he gave some suggestions to Rohit Sharma and after that, he ordered Siraj to change camps.

However, Virat Kohli’s suggestions did not work as Australian batsmen Nathan McSweeney and Marnus Labuschagne remained unbeaten at the end of the first day of play.
The duo were involved in a stellar 62-run partnership as the Australian National Cricket Team were 86/1 at stumps.
Talking about the performances of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma with the bat, the Indian captain managed to score just 3 runs off 23 balls, while the batting stalwart, who hit a century in the Perth Test, scored 7 runs off 8 balls.
Indian bowlers have not used the pink ball as well as they should – Sunil Gavaskar
Speaking on Star Sports, Indian national cricket team’s great batsman Sunil Gavaskar expressed his disappointment over the performance of the Indian bowling unit.
He opined that the Jasprit Bumrah-led bowling attack did not use the pink ball properly, which led to its failure on the first day.
“They have to make the hitters play as much as they can. And this is what happens when you make the hitters play as much as you can.
“You can set them up by bowling a couple of deliveries outside and then have the ball come back in, like he did to Nathan McSweeney in the Perth Test, or to Labuschagne in the Perth Test, like Bumrah did. Indian bowlers really we haven’t used the pink ball as well as we should have,” Gavaskar said.
