Watch: Virat Kohli stares at death after fringe umpire dismisses Mitchell Santner in Pune Test

Kohli has been dismissed by Mitchell Santner in both innings of the match.

In the ongoing second Test between India and New Zealand, Virat Kohli put up another disappointing performance as he was dismissed by Santner LBW.

The incident occurred during the 30th over when Santner bowled a long ball that skidded after throwing. It was an arm ball that slipped as Kohli tried to flick it off the back foot. It was hit in front of the leg stump and the tracking of the ball suggested it would have clipped the leg stump. He was delivered and remained out despite a review as it was an umpire’s call on the strike of the wickets.

India is 168-7, still needs 191 more runs to win

Talking about the match, India started the second session with a score of 81-1 but quickly lost Shubman Gill early on. Yashasvi Jaiswal played impressively, scoring a solid 77 before being dismissed by Mitchell Santner.

Virat Kohli again had a disappointing outing, departing with just 17 runs. Rishabh Pant and Sarfaraz Khan also fell cheap, and Washington Sundar, who looked promising, was dismissed for 21.

At the time of writing, India’s score is 168-7, with Ravindra Jadeja and R. Ashwin at the crease, needing 191 more runs to win as Santner has already taken five wickets in the innings for New Zealand.

India are at risk of losing a home Test series for the first time since 2012, also jeopardizing their quest for a place in the World Test Championship final.
