Rohit Sharma is India’s player of the moment after leading the country to the T20 World Cup title. Under his leadership, India won the T20 World Cup final in Barbados, beating South Africa by seven runs.
He achieved a unique record by winning two T20 World Cups, one as a player and one as captain. His dream of winning an ODI World Cup is yet to be fulfilled. He came very close to winning it last year in the final but lost to Australia.
However, this time, almost six months after the ODI World Cup defeat, it was Rohit Sharma who gave India a much-awaited and much-deserved T20 World Cup title. India had an unbeaten World Cup campaign and became the first team to win an ICC T20 World Cup title as an undefeated team.
The Indian players arrived in Delhi on July 4 and met Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In the evening, they participated in an Open Bus Parade in Mumbai and were felicitated by the BCCI at the Wankhede Stadium.
After all the celebrations, the Indian team members dispersed and returned to their respective homes. Virat Kohli went to London to be with his wife Anushka Sharma and their children.
Rohit also returned to his residence at Ahuja Towers in Worli. His childhood friends and family members welcomed him with great enthusiasm within the society. Indian cricketer Tilak Varma was also among them.
They performed the ‘Fair strut’ to welcome him and wore special Rohit Sharma jerseys. They mimicked the slow steps exactly as Rohit Sharma walked onto the podium to lift the T20 World Cup title with the Indian team.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma’s childhood friends wore a special t-shirt with the phrase ‘You believe in Karma, we believe in Rohit Sharma’. This was their way of paying tribute to Rohit Sharma for winning the T20 World Cup title for India.
Team 45 Ro, the Indian captain’s official media team, took to Instagram to share the video of his friends carrying Rohit on their shoulders and enjoying the moment with him. The floor was also decorated with flower petals to welcome the World Cup-winning captain home.

Rohit has finally ended India’s 13-year wait to win their next ICC World Cup title. The last ICC title won by India was the 2011 ODI World Cup. In between, they won the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013 and lost every ICC knockout match they played since then.
Rohit announced his retirement from the shortest format of the game and is soon to become a T20 World Cup champion. Virat Kohli also announced his retirement from T20Is, as did Ravindra Jadeja. He is retiring from the format as a double T20 World Cup winner, winning the title in 2007 as a rising young prodigy. In 159 T20I matches, Rohit has scored 4,231 runs at an average of 32.05 with a strike rate of over 140. He has scored five centuries and 32 fifties in his career.
