Will Jacks

For the second consecutive game in the ongoing IPL, Will Jacks failed to make an impact with the bat as he was unfortunately left out in the ongoing game between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Sunrisers Hyderabad at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

The England star made his IPL debut last week against Mumbai Indians and was out for just eight runs. And on Monday (April 15), he could only score seven runs before going run-less against SRH.

It was the last ball of the eighth over and Will Jacks was standing at the non-striker’s end as RCB captain Faf du Plessis took on Jaydev Unadkat. The left-arm pacer bowled a slower delivery outside off stump and du Plessis hit the ball towards the bowler.

Unadkat managed to put his right palm on the ball before it hit the stumps. Meanwhile, Will Jacks had left the area and before he could safely return inside, the damage was done.

The dismissal of Will Jacks also made it clear that it was not RCB’s day. Early in the game, SRH batsmen took RCB bowlers to task and helped their team post an all-time total of 287/3. It is now the highest total ever recorded in IPL. SRH also held the previous record by scoring 277/3 earlier in the ongoing IPL 2024.

Du Plessis’ decision to bowl first after winning the toss turned out to be a nightmare as the SRH batsmen went berserk from the start. Travis Head smashed a 39-ball century to lay the foundation for the grand total before Heinrich Klaasen smashed 67 off just 31. Abdul Samad and Aiden Markram then shared an unbeaten 56-run stand in just 18 balls to help their team finish hard.

In response, RCB were at 131 for 5 in the 12th over at the time of writing this report. They still need an improbable 157 runs in less than nine overs to reach the total. Dinesh Karthik and Mahipal Lomror were batting in the middle order for SRH at the time of writing this report.
