Watch: Yash Thakur’s crazy delivery leaves Prithvi Shaw clueless in Ranji Trophy final

Indian batsman Prithvi Shaw did not make the kind of impact he would have liked in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2023-24 final. The summit clash of the elite tournament is between Mumbai and Vidarbha at the Wankhede Stadium.

Mumbai are in the driving seat in the Ranji Trophy final against Vidarbha. After registering a total of 224 runs, they defeated their opponents by just 105 runs, taking a huge lead of over 100 runs in the first innings of the grand final at the Wankhede Stadium.

In the second innings, with a lead in their bag, Mumbai were expected to bat freely and play aggressively. But that has not been the case. The Vidarbha bowlers have bowled sensationally well in the game and have troubled the Mumbai batsmen a lot with the new ball.

Prithvi Shaw looked good at the start but perished to Yash Thakur’s brilliance in the second innings. The Vidarbha pacer bowled a sensational delivery that the batsman had no idea about and was forced to take a long walk back to the pavilion, ending the game on a disappointing note.

Yash Thakur bowled a 133.4 kmph delivery that fit. He bowled the ball at a good distance and Prithvi Shaw tried to defend from the area without taking into account the movement outside the cover. The ball went through the gate, slipped through the gap between the bat and crashed into the stumps.

Here is the video:

Prithvi Shaw managed just 11 runs off 18 balls in the second innings. He managed only one boundary in his innings. His wicket saw Mumbai lose the first wicket for 26 runs. The batsman did not have the kind of impact he would have wanted as he did not set the stage on fire in the first innings.

Prithvi Shaw seemed to have decent touch in the first innings of the game. He played some magnificent shots in his innings but couldn’t start like he did. He scored 46 runs off 63 balls to give his team a valiant start. He hit five fours in his innings before Harsh Dubey bowled him.

After Prithvi Shaw, Harsh Dubey removes Bhupen Lalwani to take his team on flight

After removing Prithvi Shaw, Yash Thakur’s bowling partner Harsh Dubey made sure to give his team another breakthrough. The fast bowler also removed Bhupen Lalwani to put pressure on the opposition in the grand final at the Wankhede Stadium.

Harsh Dubey bowled a full toss to which Bhupen Lalwani came down the track and tried to clear the fence. Mohit Kale, who came onto the field as a short-fielder, lunged forward and to his left to grab the catch with both hands.

He timed his dive perfectly and also made sure he had his fingers under the ball when his hands hit the ground. On this wicket, Mumbai lost their first two matches. Bhupen Lalwani finished with 18 runs off 38 balls as Mumbai reeled at 34/2. The onus will now be on captain Ajinkya Rahane and Musheer Khan to lead the team to a big total.
