The rosters of the three teams that will participate in the upcoming Women’s Caribbean Premier League (WCPL) 2024 have been finalized. Defending champions Barbados Royals, Guyana Amazon Warriors and Trinbago Knight Riders will face each other in the upcoming season.

The draft of the teams took place on Tuesday (July 16). Prior to the draft, all three teams had shaped their squads through retentions and previous signings. The reigning champions, Barbados Royals, brought in wicketkeeper Rashada Williams and batsman Trishan Holder from their team last year.

They have also added all-rounder Shabika Gajnabi, speedster Cherry Ann Fraser and batsman Djenaba Joseph to their squad. All three players had played for Amazon Warriors in the last edition of the WCPL. Earlier, Barbados Royals had also signed Sri Lankan star Chamari Athapaththu.

On the other hand, the Amazon Warriors have signed former West Indies U-19 captain Ashmini Munisar, spinners Sheneta Grimmond and Kaysia Schultz, all-rounder Realeanna Grimmond, Nyia Latchman and seamer Kate Wilmott. Prior to the draft, the Amazon Warriors had signed South Africa’s Chloe Tryon and Australia’s Erin Burns.

Trinbago Knight Riders have strengthened their squad with the addition of Indian stars Shikhar Pandey and Jemimah Rodrigues and Australian duo Meg Lanning and Jess Jonassen. In the draft, the Knight Riders signed Kyshona Knight, Anisa Mohammed and Shunelle Sawh.

Meanwhile, the WCPL 2024 will be played from August 21 to 29 this year. All matches will be played at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad. Each team will play the other two teams twice before the top two teams qualify for the final.
