Hosts India did their best after suffering a batting collapse in the first innings of the ongoing IND vs NZ first Test, being bowled out for 46.
In the second innings, the Men in Blue made amends as all the top-order batsmen made significant contributions to help overturn a 356-run deficit.
During India’s comeback, Sarfaraz Khan and Rishabh Pant created the highest Indian partnership of the match, achieving a game-changing 177-run stand.
While the duo was in the middle, there was a moment when Sarfaraz lost his cool while running with Rishabh Pant. He could be seen jumping to stop Pant from running and looked extremely heated.
Sarfaraz’s reaction soon went viral, given his lively nature.
Speaking to the press after the end of day 4, Sarfaraz later clarified the reason for his reaction.

Sarfaraz Khan talks about his lively reaction to Rishabh Pant
Sarfaraz emphasized his intention to stay away from any risky situation that could lead to losing any of his wickets, particularly given Pant’s condition.
Earlier on Day 2, Pant had injured his left knee while misjudging a delivery during wicket-keeping, making him more conscious while running between the wickets.
Sarfaraz said, “We knew that Rishabh was suffering from a knee injury and was in some pain today, so we agreed to be cautious while running. After ordering two, I remembered his condition mid-race, hence my reaction. Thank God he survived that.”
Talking about the match, while the Indian top order delivered the goods and built a solid platform, the lower order could not contribute much or add anything.
India experienced a late collapse after tea as they quickly lost their last four wickets – Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj – and eventually posted a relatively easy target of 107 runs for the Kiwis.
