"Welcome to the era of Gautam Gambhir" – Twitter slams India head coach for changing batting order after second ODI loss to Sri Lanka

Fans on Twitter reacted after Sri Lanka made a strong statement in the ongoing three-match ODI series against India. They defeated the visitors by 32 runs in the second game of the series which took place at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday.

Opting to bat, Sri Lanka got off to the worst possible start as they lost Pathum Nissanka on the first ball of the innings. But after that, Avishka Fernando (40) and Kusal Mendis (30) got the team back into the game with their 74-run partnership for the second wicket.

Captain Charith Asalanka (25) made a strong comeback but the Indian bowlers made a sensational comeback and turned the game around, leaving Sri Lanka under pressure at 136 for six. With the team losing wickets rapidly, Dunith Wellalage (39) and Kamindu Mendis (40) joined forces and pulled the team out of trouble.

The Wellalage-Mendis duo added 72 runs and took the team to a fighting total. Sri Lanka finished with a total of 240 for nine, for India Washington Sundar was the best of the bowlers with his figures of three for 30 while Kuldeep Yadav also took two scalps.

In the chase, India again got off to a brutal start, credit to captain Rohit Sharma (64). The opening batsman scored a half-century in just 29 balls and put Sri Lanka on the back foot. Vice-captain Shubman Gill (35) supported him well as India put on a solid opening partnership of 97 runs.

However, the addition of Jeffrey Vandersey completely changed the complexion of the game. The wrist bowler took six wickets in an instant and left India reeling at 147 for seven. Axar Patel (44) put in a great effort but his wicket tilted the game in Sri Lanka’s favour. The hosts bowled out the opposition for 208 to win the game by 32 runs and finish 1-0 in the series.
