Fans on Twitter reacted: The Indian national cricket team won the five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe by a 4-1 margin. They won the fifth and final match of the series by 42 runs on Sunday (July 14) at the Harare Sports Club in Harare.
Asked to bat, India did not get off to a great start to the innings as they lost three wickets quickly. Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma returned to the hut early as India were reeling at 40/3.
With the team under pressure, Sanju Samson (58) stood firm and helped his team get back into the game. Riyan Parag (22) provided great support to Sanju as the duo added 65 runs for the fourth wicket and pulled the team out of trouble.
In the end, Shivam Dube (26) played some brutal knocks and took India to a total of 167 for six. For Zimbabwe, Blessing Muzarabani was the best of the bowlers with his figures of two for 17.
Zimbabwe got off to a torrid start with the bat as Wessly Madhevere snared a three-ball duck. Tadiwanashe Marumani (27) tried to hold on to one end as wickets kept falling around him. Marumani and Dion Myers (34) added 44 runs for the third wicket but after that, nothing stood in the hosts’ way.
Indian bowlers lost wickets at regular intervals as the Indian bowlers were on top of the game. Faraz Akram (27) tried hard but did not get the support as India bowled out the opposition for 125 runs to win the game by 42 runs. Mukesh Kumar was the best of the bowlers as he picked up four wickets.
