Former Indian U-19 player Shreevats Goswami has slammed current India wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant for his recent post on India’s star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra. Pant recently tried to rally support for Neeraj Chopra through social media ahead of his javelin throw final at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
On August 7, Rishabh Pant promised to pay Rs 100,089 to the social media user who liked his post and comment the most, in case Neeraj Chopra won a gold medal. Apart from this, Pant also promised to offer flight tickets to 10 other people who could not avail the first offer.
Neeraj Chopra will play the javelin throw final on August 8, where he will look to defend his gold medal won at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Shreevats Goswami criticizes Rishabh Pant for his post on Neeraj Chopra
Shreevats Goswami expressed his surprise over Rishabh Pant’s unusual post and advised him to get rid of his Public Relations (PR) team. Usually, the PR team is responsible for the posts of star international players and this seems to be the case in this case as well.
“I’m confused. Yeh sab kya chal raha hai? Rishabh, you need to get rid of your PR mere bhai.. (What’s going on? You need to get rid of the PR team bro),” Shreevats Goswami posted on X (formerly Twitter).
Am I confused? What is all this going on? Rishabh, you need to get rid of your simple PR bhai.

Clearly, Goswami did not expect such a post from Rishabh Pant and was not happy with the Indian wicketkeeper-batsman. Shreevats Goswami is famous for his various social media posts. He has good relations with many international cricketers which he made during his playing career.
Shreevats Goswami’s cricket career
Shreevats Goswami announced his retirement from professional cricket on 19 October 2024. He scored 3019 runs in 61 first-class matches at an average of 32.46. The wicketkeeper-batsman primarily played domestic cricket for Bengal. For the latter part of his playing career, he moved to Tripura.
Goswami was part of the famous India Under-19 team that won the 2008 Under-19 World Cup in Malaysia under the leadership of Virat Kohli. He has played the IPL for four teams – Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Rishabh Pant failed to make a mark in ODI comeback
Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant was part of the Indian team that won the 2024 T20 World Cup title in June 2024. Pant batted at the number 3 position in the tournament and was also India’s designated wicket-keeper batsman.
Recently, Pant took part in the ODI series between India and Sri Lanka. The left-handed batsman did not get a chance to play in the first two matches but played in the third match replacing KL Rahul in India’s starting XI.
However, he could not score much and was bowled out by Maheesh Theekshana for just 6 off 9 balls. This was Pant’s first ODI match since his return from the life-threatening accident.
