Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s loyal fan base is urging their former opening batsman KL Rahul to return to the franchise in IPL 2025.
‘Come to RCB’ is the hottest topic on X right now and all the credit behind this social media trend goes to none other than LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka. Following Lucknow’s 10-wicket defeat at the hands of Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Goenka was seen lashing out at KL Rahul over his team’s humiliating defeat that reduced their chances of reaching the play-offs.
Why did Sanjiv Goenka lash out at KL Rahul?
After Lucknow Super Giants won the toss, KL Rahul elected to bat first but Sunrisers Hyderabad’s bowlers were on fire. They quickly removed Quinton de Kock and Marcus Stoinis from the box, while Rahul had a terrible output of 29 off 33.
LSG didn’t even look close to scoring 150, but Nicholas Pooran’s 48 off 26 and Ayush Badoni’s 55 off 30 took their total to 165, leaving 166 as a target.
Coming into this match after losing 2 of their last 3 matches, Sunrisers Hyderabad needed to give a strong response and that is exactly what they did. The deadly duo of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma vented all their frustration on Krishnappa Gowtham, Yash Thakur, Ravi Bishnoi, Nanveen-ul-Haq and Ayush Badoni. All of them conceded more than 10 runs per over.
Head and Abhishek ended up forming a 167-run partnership, ending the game in 9.4 overs. LSG were defeated by SRH in a one-sided and humiliating manner that infuriated owner Sanjiv Goenka.
Goenka pulled LSG captain KL Rahul close to him towards the dugout and the footage of their conversation did not look convincing at all. She was seen saying things aggressively and also making hand gestures at Rahul.
Experts took notice and stated that KL Rahul should not be in that situation and Goenka should have done it somewhere else. The video of Goenka and the LSG captain is going viral on all social media platforms and fans are backing Rahul to leave the franchise next season.
RCB fans have also joined in and are constantly begging KL Rahul to return to the Bengaluru-based team where he has played 3 seasons.

KL Rahul is like Lord Hanuman who has forgotten his strength. He desperately needs someone like Jamwant to make him aware of the forgotten strength in him. I hope this whole controversy/trolling/becomes the turning point of his career and he bounces back like a monster.🤞🏻 #KLRahul pic.twitter.com/71UsHX7zKE

Disappointed with KL Rahul’s performance yesterday, but pathetic behavior from LSG owner.
