India’s star left-hander Rishabh Pant will stop at nothing to mark his return to competitive cricket after surviving a horrendous accident last December when his car crashed into a divider and caught fire. Rishabh Pant last played a Test match against Bangladesh in Mirpur in December 2022 and has been out of competitive cricket since. However, he turned up at the Delhi Capitals’ training camp in Kolkata but did not participate in any of the practice sessions.
Rishabh Pant has regularly provided his fans with updates on his rehabilitation and recently posted a video on X, formerly known as Twitter, where he could be seen working out. She captioned the video: “Recovering with every rep.”

Earlier this Sunday, former Indian cricketer-turned-commentator Deep Dasgupta sparked huge speculation, suggesting that Chennai Super Kings (CSK) could consider Rishabh Pant as a possible successor to MS Dhoni in IPL 2025 if the Former Indian captain decides to retire. Dasgupta feels that one should not be surprised if CSK manages to sign Pant as Dhoni’s replacement as both of them are similar in terms of their playing style.
“Don’t be surprised if they get Rishabh Pant for IPL 2025. MS Dhoni and Rishabh Pant are very close. Rishabh obviously adores MS, and MS also likes him a lot. They spend a lot of time together. Their connection and Rishabh’s thinking are very similar, considering that he is very attacking and positive. He always talks about winning and all that,” Dasgupta said.
Rishabh Pant has always considered MS Dhoni as his role model and both of them have a lot of similarities in terms of their game. Pant has the potential to lead the Indian cricket team soon. In fact, he has led India in a few T20 games and this time he could be seen leading the Delhi Capitals after a gap of two years.
