As India faced the surprising Bangladesh In Chennai, Jaiswal showed his grit and unwavering focus. He scored a brilliant fifty under intense pressure which gave some hope to the Indian team at that time and helped them achieve a couple of world records.

Yashasvi Jaiswal’s breakthrough innings made him the first batsman in the 147-year history of Test cricket to score more than 750 runs in his first 10 innings at home. With this breakthrough feat, the left-handed opener broke the 89-year-old record of West Indies legend George Headley, who had amassed 747 runs in 1935.

Here are the batsmen with the most runs after the first 10 Test innings at home:

755* – Yashasvi Jaiswal (India)

680: Sir Viv Richards (West Indies)

Yashasvi Jaiswal sets new record for India in Tests

Meanwhile, Yashasvi Jaiswal registered his sixth consecutive fifty-plus score in home Tests since making his debut for India in the format in 2023 in the West Indies. With this achievement, the 22-year-old batsman set a new record for India in Test cricket by having the most consecutive fifty-plus scores at home.

Yashasvi Jaiswal surpassed Rusi Modi’s five consecutive fifty-plus scores in home Tests since his debut to become the first Indian player to hit the most consecutive fifty-plus scores in home Tests since his debut in the format.

The significance of this achievement is less than that of Jaiswal’s performance, which came during a time when India’s batting line-up was under pressure, and his ability to score runs under pressure speaks volumes about his calibre and composure.

Ravichandran Ashwin achieves a special feat in Chennai Test

However, Yashasvi Jaiswal fell to Bangladesh’s new pace sensation Nahid Rana for 56. He also added 62 runs with Rishabh Pant (39) to get some momentum into the Indian innings after Indian captain Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli were dismissed cheaply against Bangladesh in Chennai.

Later, Ravindra Jadeja (86) and Ravichandran AshwinAshwin’s 102+ stand got the Indian team back into action against Bangladesh. With this ton, Ashwin also achieved a significant feat in Test cricket, overtaking Pakistan’s Kamran Akam in the elite list.

Ashwin becomes only the second player to have scored the most centuries (four) while batting at number eight or lower in Test cricket. New Zealander Daniel Vettori leads the charts with five tons to his name in the longest format of the game.
