The Zimbabwe cricket team is all set to tour Sri Lanka for the white-ball series in January 2024. The two teams will lock horns in a three-match ODI and T20I series, to be played from January 6 to 18 .
Zimbabwe’s tour of Sri Lanka will begin with the ODI series. The first match will be played on January 6 followed by the second and third matches on January 8 and 11 respectively. All three matches will be played at RPICS in Colombo.
After the ODI series, the T20Is will begin operations from January 14. The second match between the teams will be played on January 16, while the last match is scheduled for January 18. The T20I series between the two teams will be played at the same venue as the ODI series.
Zimbabwe will arrive in Sri Lanka on January 3. It will be their first time visiting the island nation since 2022. The Sikandar Raza-led team has had decent success in Sri Lanka as they beat the home team by a margin of 3-2 during the ODI series in 2017.
Both teams would hope to make a mark as they have recently suffered heartbreak. For Sri Lanka, it will be more of a comeback series as they had a debacle in ICC World Cup 2023. They couldn’t get going at all and only managed two wins in the tournament and lost 7 matches.
On the other hand, Zimbabwe would look to rejuvenate themselves as they failed to qualify for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. If this was not enough for them, they also suffered a disappointing home defeat against Ireland by a margin of 1-2. .
