Suryakumar Yadav’s drought continues in the ongoing IPL 2026 season for Mumbai Indians (MI). Against the Gujarat Titans, the veteran batsman was dismissed for just 15 runs off 11 balls.
The crowd at the Narendra Modi Stadium was at their feet when ‘SKY’ launched the ball into the stands to score the maximum. Soon after making the sixth over, the Gujarat Titans (GT) batsman was bowled cleanly by experienced pacer Kagiso Rabada.
Kagiso Rabada’s 152 KMPH delivery fooled Suryakumar Yadav
MI lost their third batsman in the process when they were all out for 44 in 5.5 overs. Before SKY’s departure, Mumbai lost their openers Quinton de Kock and Danish debutant Malewar. South African pacer Kagiso Rabada remains one of the most lethal bowlers in IPL 2026. The delivery, clocked at 152 kmph, dismantled Yadav’s stumps.
It is a crucial match for Mumbai Indians as they are currently in 10th place in the 10-team league. Against the Gujarat Titans, MI have considered multiple changes in their playing mix. Rohit Sharma is not in the playing XI due to the injury he sustained while batting against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
Instead of Rohit Sharma, the MI team management chose Denmark’s Malewar, one of the debutants in the match, as an opener to pair up with experienced campaigner Quinton de Kock. On paper, the pairing of Danish and Quinton seemed promising. The Protea batsman smashed a century in the previous match, against the Punjab Kings (PBKS).
Naman Dhir played well, but Suryakumar Yadav gave disappointment again
Against the Gujarat Titans, MI’s openers departed quickly. In the fourth over of the first innings, when Mumbai were on 25, Quinton de Kock was lost after scalping Dane Malewar in the second over of the match. As the team was reduced early in the match, the onus of recovery work fell on Naman Dhir and Suryakumar Yadav.
Dhir made a promising 45 runs off 32 balls but Yadav was dismissed for just 15 runs. As soon as he lost his wicket, fans on social media platforms expressed their displeasure with the batsman as he has been struggling with the bat for a long time.

Suryakumar Yadav has become a total liability for India and Mumbai Indians. As soon as cricket started playing cricket, its downfall began. Totally embarrassing and irritating. I started to understand more. Now I have come to the garden.
