Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has responded to England’s explosive top-order batsman Harry Brook, who has become the latest Englishman to join an infamous list. That list is nothing more than England-Players refuse to appear in IPL after getting lucrative contracts during auctions. Harry Brook will not travel to India for the biggest T20 tournament of the year, according to Cricbuzz.

Aakash Chopra didn’t waste much time and took to X and cryptically criticized the English players. His tweet didn’t have much content except asking IPL franchises to invest wisely in England cricketers. He knows very well that English players are too temperamental and change their minds sometimes.

It all started for Harry Brook after he had to return home to the UK following England’s five-match Test series tour of India in January due to personal reasons. At that time it was assumed that Brook might also reject the 2024 edition of the IPL for the same reason and exactly the same thing happened.

“The Brook family respectfully requests privacy during this time. In light of this, the ECB and the family kindly ask the media and the public to respect their wish for privacy and refrain from invading their private space,” read the ECB press release in January.

After a season where he mostly flopped after being bought for over Rs 13 crore, Delhi Capitals acquired him for a cap price of Rs 4 crore in the IPL auction for 2024 at the Coca-Cola Stadium in Dubai. DC captain Rishabh Pant, who was given the green light to act as wicket-keeper batsman this season, was also involved in the process.

Now it will be interesting to see who DC brings in as Harry Brook’s replacement. Australian sensation John Fraser-McGurk is expected to move to Delhi after making a name for himself with his aggressive style of play.

Another thing that remains to be seen is whether it will affect the capitals of Delhi or not. Harry Brook would have added enormous strength to DC’s batting order that includes David Warner, michel marsh, Prithvi Shaw and Pant, among others. Harry Brook would have reached 3 or 4 and his possible replacement, McGurk, is a suitable opening batsman.

That could hamper the team combination and batting order of the Ricky Ponting-led side, who will be looking to claim their first IPL trophy this season.
