Ahmed Shehzad, amazed by Rohit Sharma’s captaincy, tags India as favorites to win T20 World Cup 2024

India will face England in the second semi-final in Guyana on Thursday. Both teams are looking to reach the final. However, former Pakistan cricketer Ahmed Shehzad has favored India to reach the final.

In a talk show for Geo News, Ahmed Shehzad pointed out what makes India favorites to win this T20 World Cup. The Men in Blue are on an unbeaten streak in the run-up to the semi-final.

They will now face England, who have lost matches in the league stage and even in the Super 8. He said India has adapted brilliantly to the Caribbean conditions. He mentioned how India brought in Kuldeep Yadav into the XI and started playing matches in the Super 8.

He further praised captain Rohit Sharma as a brave leader and for his astute captaincy. “You know how good a captain Rohit is by seeing his captaincy. When India returned from USA playing in ideal conditions, they brought Kuldeep Yadav into the playing eleven in dry and spinning conditions in the Caribbean.”

Furthermore, he praised the Indian team saying that they have players to play in all conditions and that they are a team that seems very prepared for this T20 World Cup. He praised Rohit for the way he spoke about the team’s preparation in the post-match interactions.

Ahmed Shehzad praises Rohit Sharma’s captaincy for Team India

“Rohit, in his post-match interaction with Harsha Bhogle, said we are not under any pressure. We are just making sure we go through our process and control what is in our control and try to execute our plan well.”

He further noted that India and Rohit Sharma are not thinking ahead of the match but they seem very prepared and ready ahead of the match.

He said India looks like the best team right now to win the World Cup. However, he favored Afghanistan to win the World Cup, which is now out of the tournament after losing the semi-final to South Africa.

Meanwhile, rain is forecast for the India vs England semi-final. If the match ends in failure, India will qualify for the final by virtue of finishing higher in the points table in the Super 8s. There is no reserve day for the match and the match can extend up to 250 minutes before we start to lose overs.

India lost to England in the semi-final of the T20 World Cup and were eliminated from the tournament. This time they are unbeaten and will face England again in the semi-finals. In the press conference, he said that India will not have any particular advantage in knowing where they will play in the semi-final. He further said that it is a headache for the ICC to ensure that India reaches the venue on time with all the concerns about rain playing a spoilsport role.
