‘Aisa Mat Kar Tu’: Shubman Gill scolds Yashasvi Jaiswal after terrible mix-up in Adelaide [WATCH]

Their conversation was captured by the microphone.

Indian batsman Shubman Gill could not control his emotions after a horrific mix-up with teammate Yashasvi Jaiswal during the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) second Test in Adelaide.

The incident occurred on the first ball of the sixth over of India’s second innings. Australian captain Pat Cummins bowled a fuller delivery on leg stump and Gill called for a run after bowling it to square leg. However, Jaiswal hesitated in the decision after he had left the crease and the confusion left both the young Indian batsmen stranded mid-pitch before they could complete the run.

After the close call, Gill encouraged Jaiswal to trust his judgment in deciding to run after placing the ball in the gap. Their exchange was captured on the stump microphone.

Shubman Gill said, “Aisa mat kar tu, main tujhe sahi call hi duga.” (Don’t do this. I will give you the correct decisions to run).”

Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal fail to make good starts; India loses half of its team

Coming into the match, the duo of Yashasvi and Shubman were able to put together a partnership of just 30 runs before the left-hander fell prey to Scott Boland for 24 off the first ball of the ninth over. Shubman Gill could only last a little longer in the middle and departed after scoring 28. Both the young batsmen got off to a good start but could not capitalize on it and convert it into big scores. The Indian top order once again crumbled with star batsmen Virat Kohli (11), Rohit Sharma (6) and KL Rahul (7) failing to make any impact.

At the end of Day 2, India finds itself in a precarious position having lost half of its team. The Men in Blue are currently 29 runs behind with the scoreboard reading 128 for 5. Rishabh Pant (28*) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (15*) remained unbeaten at the end of the game and will have to shoulder the responsibility of scoring the bulk of the runs when India resumes its innings on Day 3.
