England Legend Alastair Cook came up with a funny comment while praising Yashasvi Jaiswalis batting in the recently concluded 3rd IND vs ENG Test in Rajkot.

The opening batsman starred with the bat as India thrashed England by a record margin of 434 runs to take a 2-1 lead in the five-match series. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored his second double century in as many Tests to lead India’s charge with the bat in the second innings.

He became the third Indian batsman to score two centuries in consecutive Tests. The other two Indians who achieved this feat are Vinod Kambli and Virat Kohli. After scoring 104 runs on the third day of the Test, he had to retire injured due to back discomfort.

He returned to the area on the fourth day and left England speechless. The left-hander was on a six-hit streak in his innings when he smashed a record 12 sixes, including 3 in a row against James Anderson. He now jointly holds the record for hitting the most sixes in a Test innings.

Alastair Cook on Yashasvi Jaiswal’s six-hit streak:

With Yashasvi Jaiswal hitting a dozen sixes during his impressive knock, Alastair Cook praised him in a hilarious way and told TNT Sports: “Yashasvi Jaiswal hit more sixes in an innings than I have in my entire career.”

In fact, Cook was right with his comment. Cook, one of England’s greatest Test batsmen, hit 11 sixes in his illustrious career, one less than Yashasvi Jaiswal managed in just one innings. He retired after scoring a staggering 12,472 runs in the longest format of the game.

Meanwhile, Team India hit a record 28 sixes in the third Test, which is now the most by any team in a Test. The previous record was also held by them by scoring 27 sixes against South Africa in 2019. Thanks to the victory in the third Test, India took the lead in the series for the first time. They lost the first test before winning the second and third tests. The fourth match is scheduled to be played from February 23 in Ranchi.
